Lean and weathered beyond their years, Wesley stands with the slight stoop of someone who spends long nights bent over ledgers by candlelight. Their close-cropped ash-brown hair is streaked prematurely grey at the temples, and their smooth, angular face carries neither markedly masculine nor feminine cast, hollow cheeks framing pale grey eyes that seem always to be listening. Old ink stains blacken their fingertips, and a thin white scar cuts across their left brow. They wrap themselves in a patched travelling cloak the colour of wet bark, layered over a plain linen shirt worn soft with age.

Traits

Observant Soft-spoken Stubborn Haunted

Motivations

Wesley believes that stories are the only weapons humanity has against the things that hunt in the dark. To let a tale die is to let a monster forget its shackles. They are driven to preserve every account, however grim, before the last mouths that remember them fall silent.

Goals

To complete the Ashenbrook Codex, a comprehensive record of every creature, curse, and cautionary tale their bloodline has gathered over nine generations, and to find a safe archive where it can outlive them.

Secrets

Wesley discovered that several of their family's 'stories' are in fact binding rituals, and that the Ashenbrook line has for centuries served as unwitting jailers to something recorded only as 'the Guest.' Wesley suspects that finishing the Codex may be exactly what frees it.

Speaks in a low, measured cadence, pausing as though reciting from memory. Slips easily into the rhythms of old tales, favouring proverbs, refrains, and the ominous phrasing of bedtime warnings. Rarely raises their voice; even danger is described with unsettling calm.
